An original acrylic, gesso and lacquer mix media artboard measuring 12" x 16".
This was the next piece in my color studies series, an attempt to focus more on the process than the outcome.
For this, I started with a gold gesso mixed with gold, orange, and ruby red acrylics. I then free-handed the hexagons in silver and a minty emerald. It was finished with a splattering of gold gesso and a layer of clear lacquer.
I actually finger-painted the background, which was loads of fun. And I seriously considered leaving the painting as-is with the gorgeous golden waves, but it kept telling me it needed more. And more. And more. A ravenous painting, indeed.
