An original acrylic, plaster, marker, and lacquer on canvas measuring 11.5" x 11.5".
This was the next piece in my color studies series, an attempt to focus more on the process than the outcome.
In this, I started with my interest in the various shades of teal and then things got a little crazy once I introduced plaster putty into the mix. I mixed the putty with acrylic paint and applied it with a palette knife to create the middle section. I loved how the putty cracked as it dried, giving even more texture to the piece.
I finished it with a metallic gold marker for highlights and a coating of clear lacquer to seal it. I like to think that this is what my brain looks like - a gilded cacophony of color.
I had a lot of fun making this piece and I am thrilled with the result. Please, enjoy!
